| 2009 has been a good year for Phoenix with France’s finest going from strength-to-strength… “Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix” is now their most successful album to date by some distance, comfortably outselling their previous three releases whilst figuring at the top end of many end-of-year polls, including the Top 10 of Q magazine. Phoenix have also become a huge live draw, recent selling out Brixton Academy, while “1901” was in the editor’s shortlist for iTunes’ Song of the Year.
“1901” is a track that continues to gain momentum everywhere having been a bona fide hit single in the US and having now being selected as the song that will soundtrack PlayStation 3’s TV and cinema Christmas ad campaign, giving massive exposure to this killer tune.
“1901” is a brilliant snap-shot of everything that is wonderful about Phoenix, comprising insanely infectious hooks and an infectious melody that lodges itself in your brain and refuses to leave.
Phoenix will be returning to the UK in early 2010 for a series of shows at the Roundhouse, details to follow soon…
